Opening Night

Last Saturday, 20th of July, we opened "UN:PLUGGED," a photo exhibit that features seven talented artists with their own unique takes on scenes, photography and fine art. I have to say, the opening night was a success, as my expectations of guests were overwhelmed by the number of people that came and appreciated our work. It was an exhilarating experience. I saw many people who I admire in the industry and they were all congratulating us and appreciating the work we did. It was awesome.

This photo exhibit was a blast!

The whole experience widened my perception of art, photography, the gallery scene and printing in general. I appreciated my work more than I did when I finished processing it on my laptop. It was much more real, detailed, and I felt a sense of accomplishment seeing it mounted on the wall of the gallery. Now, I can truly call myself a photographer and a gallery artist. It is one of my proudest moments, to be appreciated and to be exhibiting on the same wall as these seasoned co-exhibitors and enjoying every moment of it. It was a blast!

The support was overwhelming.

Of course, I wasn't expecting everyone from my family to be present, but they were. It was a great treat. Due to the multitude of people coming to see the art, there were so many guests I wasn't able to accommodate, and some left without even saying "hi!" which was kind of sad, but I'm relieved that they understand. It was also a flattering experience to be bombarded with questions about my work, my process, the concept of it all and the reasoning behind my choice of photographs. I was very happy to even teach how I processed some of them.

Overall, it was an unforgettable experience--some sort of legacy-defining feat that I didn't think I could accomplish this early in my career. This experience opened my mind to what is possible. It gave me more reason to learn, be better at my craft, and to always be on the look out for the next opportunity.

After all, the only limit we have is what we tell ourselves.
